About The Nagle Centre
The Nagle Centre was established in 1998 and was based in the Presentation School at Slievekeale Road, Waterford. The Nagle Centre is now situated in the Christian Brothers House, Mount Sion, Barrack Street, Waterford. It was initially established to address the lack of facilities for parents in community - in particular mothers who are working in the home - to encourage them to become actively involved in the child's education and to bridge gaps in their own education.
The Centre's training programs have the following aims:
To develop confidence and self-esteem by helping participants to complete IT training |
To provide participants with the opportunity to gain accredited, marketable work skills which in turn can lead to employment opportunities |
To eliminate the perception that IT technology is passing people by and to increase the general awareness of the possibilities offered by IT |
To develop role models within communities which can promote the benefits of IT |
To increase the use of IT among specific target groups in Waterford City and County |
There is progression route through the Centre's training programs that allows the participants to work at the pace that suits them best.
Mentoring
Mentoring is a unique aspect of our training programmes. Mentoring sessions allow participants to practise the skills they have learned with one-to-one advice and support from our tutors.
Tutors:
All of our tutors hold teaching diplomas in IT training, certified by the Joint Examining Board (JEB)
and are fully-certified to teach ECDL and FETAC courses.
