What is CTP?
- CTP defines an objective standard for instructor-led training, and provides a mechanism for IT trainers to have their competence recognised and certified.
- The Certified Training Professional qualification is the quality mark for IT training, and offers candidates the assurance of professional training delivery.
- Holders of CTP are differentiated on the basis of quality of their work, and have the benefit of using the CTP logo and branding to promote their training.
Benefits of CTP
- Gives public and professional record of competence
- Enchances career prospects for IT trainers
- Certifies best practice among IT trainers
- Enables differentiation between training providers on the basis of quality
- Improves quality of training nationwide
How to achieve the CTP qualification?
There are two methods to achieve the CTP qualification:
1. CTP Certification
- The CTP certification programme is for experienced trainers who wish to obtain an internationally recognised training qualification.
- Initially, course materials focusing on excellence in training are provided for self-study.
- Then the qualifacation requirements are explored and explained in a three-day workshop, during which candidates make a twenty-minute training video.
- Following the workshop, the candidates document their understanding in the Trainer's Evidence Record, which is submitted to the CTP tutor for assessment.
- Certification is awarded by ICS Skills when the CTP standard is reached.
2. CTP Development
- The CTP development programme is for those with little or no prior teaching or training experience.
- Candidates attend the CTP development course for one day each week for twelve weeks, and complete weekly course study and assignments
- Forty hours of IT training work experience will be done in conjunction with the development course at an approved ECDL centre.
- The candidate then completes the Trainer's Evidence Record to document and consolidate their skills.
